A meeting of the Society for the Protection of Women and Children was held yesterday afternoon, when the ' following were present:—Mrs. W: A. Evans, presiding, and Mosdames Fell,' Kirkcaldie, and Hoby. It was reported that two cases of; alleged cruelty to children, were being investigated, and. that a number of old cases, were being dealt with, one adoption case was proceeding, and one Court case was pending. The following subscriptions wero acknowledged with ■ thankß: 10s. from Mr. W. F. C. Campbell ; ss. each from Mrs. F. ICebbell, Mrs. .W. : Stafford, Mrs. D. Jones, and Mrs. Barraud.
