"KORO KORO RESERVOIR."
; Sir, —Having visited I'etono on Sunday last with tho.: intention of seeing tho well-known beautiful reservoir there, I was very much disgusted to find a no'.k'o forbidding trespassers, and to lie warned off the roadway adjoining the entrance to tho footpath formed by tho council from the Wellington Woollen Mills upwards. This path, leading to the reservoir, is ono of the prettiest and most delightfully situated -walks in and around Wellington, and its seems absurd that tho woollen mills should take-exception to visitors proceeding on their pri\atc road for a matter of a few chains in order to reach the council'* Eathwaj. la chatting, with thorax
aorvoir caretaker on a previous visit, I was informed that parties of up to 100 porsonß had visitod this spot at different times, a considerable portion of whom came from Wellington. Tho closing of this footway would also mean a distinct loss to Petone residents themselves, who have made quite a resort of thoir reservoir on Sundays and holidays. The only other way of approaching the reservoir is by a long and arduous walk over the hills, and througli tho bush by a track that is blocked by fallen trees, and is extremely precipitous, being almost impassabiS for ladies and children.. As I understand tho path from tho mill together with bridges has cost tho Petone Council a considerable sum to make, I think it is high time that sorao. approach to it other than a private entrance was; thrown open to the public.-r-I am, etc., VISITOR.
