The Missions to Soamon Institute was crowded by an appreciative audience last night, when tlio Prime Minister and Lady Ward provided a most onjoyablo coriccrt, Mr. Jamos Mooro, the missioner, presided, and scats on tlio platforni woro occupied by Lady Ward and tlio Hon. Williams), who has just recovered from iv reoent illness, Commander Hooper, of: tho N.Z.S. Amokura, and a detachment ,of Lids from t-lie training ship. . Tho following contributed items to tho programme:—&mg, Lady Ward; song, Mrs, IS. Donno; song, Miss l'utnam; duet, Misses Pntnam; ' duet, Misses Putnam; song, Mr. Prouso; sohg, Mr. E.' J. Hill; song, Hon. R. A. Lougliiian, Mr. J. Dykes gavo soveral humorous songs. Misses Prouso and Putnam acted as accorn. pani-sts. Soveral popular choruses wcro sung by the men, Mr. Weston ("Kia Ora") accompanying on the piano. Mr. 0. Mason sang a ehantoy, tho soamon joining in with iy hearty skiug. , A conundrum competition was won by sailors from ships in port. During a short ■; interval Mr. Mooro delivered-a temperance address, and soven men took tho pledge of total abstinence. A vote of thanks to tho perform ors was proposed by Mr. E. L. Burgess, seconded by Commander Hooper, supported by Mr. Fitzhorborfc. and parried by. acclamation. Lady Ward . responded. Light, refreshments were dispensed at tha conclusion of tho concert.
