PETONE BOROUGH COUNCIL.

business meeting of the newlyelected Petone Borough Council was hold last evening. _Those present. were: The Mayor En ; Councillors 11. X\\. ' Short, H. W. Hardiug, R. J. Scuthgate, A. Colquhoun, J. Piper, H. G. Youngf J. W. List, R, H. Jones, and'-W; Trueman. Ex-councillor J. G. Castle tendered his resignation as representative on the 'Petone .Technical School Board. The council decided to ask Mr.. Castle to withdraw his resignation and act for another term on the board. for Internal Affairs notified that the election of members of Petone Fire Board should' be held during the present month. :■ The Mayor, Councillors Short and Southgate were elected to represent the council. /

The council resolved'to record its vote in favour of Mr. Robert Bould, of Johnsonville, in the election of a member for tho Wellington Land Board.

The Minister for Internal Affairs forwarded objections lodged by the Hutt Borough Council to the granting of a petition by Councillor H. G. Young that portion of his land, now in the Hutt Borough, should bo included in the. Petone boundary; tho Mayor and the petitioner to answer the objections. A proposal was made by tho Public Trustee that the price to be paid: for the halfacre of laud-required for a high school site should bo fixed by arbitration. It was resolved to make an offer of £350. The Hiitt P.-.rk Committee asked tliat the council's share (£36 Bs. 3d.) of Messrs. Stafford and Treadwell's bill of costs should be paid, in order that the matter should be finally settled. The letter was left over for further consideration. :

Councillor Short moved, pjid it was re-solved-.—"That the. Harbour Board be urged to bring down a report on the reclamation of the foreshore." .' ,
