TECHNICAL EDUCATION BOARD.
THE ELECTRICAL CLASSES. The monthly meeting of, the Wellington Technical Education Board was held -last niglit, Mr. J. ; P. Luke,' MJP.,' presiding. Messrs. "W. H. Field, MJ., W. Allan, J. G. W. Aitken, D. Bobartsan, T. CannichaieJ, and T. Ballinger were also present. The Ekxrtricians' Board of Control recommended the Technical Education Board to ap-' preach the City Council with a request for a grant of £100 for equipment of the electrical classes year, and also to ask : tho council-, to' increase , its regular contribution to t!ho Technical School to £300 per . annum, £50 to be earmarked for electrical work. The chairman said tho City Council had .just voted £250 for tho Technical School, this, baing its annual contribution. ,He strongly held that in view of the fact that tho council partly controlled the work of the Electricians' Board, conducted great electrical enterprises like, tho trams and lighting, larger contributions should ho made by the council. He did not think the board was asking for more than was fair. Mr. Ballinger said £100 was asked for; because, with So £ for £ Government subsidy which it would carry, it would bo about sufficient to properly equip the classes. The additional £50 a year would cover • tho loss which was expected. Mr, Robertson said tho work of tho classes was bound , to increase, as. eloctrioity was' .coming into greater and greater use. He thought the classes liad made a very good start. _ The recommcndatkur wns accepted, and it was resolved to write to tho Eloctriciana' kprd <a£r£S9in£ -work,.
