FFJLDING. _ There was general surprise hero at the majority at tho"poll in favour of retaining the half-holiday on Wednesday. Tho fish ponds havo; proved a success, and nearly 2000 fiu'o yearling trout havo been -liberated. Tho ponds have since been cleaned out and restocked with 3000 each of rainbow and brown trout fry, which aro doing well. : It is pro- ; posed to register the society under the' Animals': Protection Act. 1908.
