' Ho was born in 1880, and entered tho Army in 1000, in which year ho served in tho South African campaign. Ho is now second lieutenant in the Ist Battalian of tho Royal Welsh Fusiliers. Lady Price is the daughter of Mr. J. W. Tarleton, of Killeigh, King's County,-.lreland. The president of.the Native Appellate Court. Judge Seth-Smith,. has been notified that he will be retired from that position as from the end of tlio present month. His retirement, it is- understood, is part of Mie retrenchment scheme which was recently announced by Sir Joseph' Ward, tlio Native Appellate Court, ceasing to'exist, and its functions being'iaken over by tho Native; Land Court. The retiring judge'was appointed a judge of the Native Land Court in 1888, and he continued to hold that offico until 1894, when ho retired. In 1904 ho was reappointed, and held the office for a further period of. two yedrs, after which ho was apr pointed as president of the Appellate : Court, a position which ho has held ever since. , '■': Death has removed another Wairarapa pioneer—Mrs. Wilde, senior, of Dalofiold. The deceased lady (says our Carterton co--respondent) was a native of Germany, and came, to the Dominion in 1874, spending three years in Greytown,,and then removing to Carterton. Later, she took, up property at Dnleficld, then bush country, and resided there ever since. Ritchie, the retiring Seoretajy for Agriculture, was entertained at the Hotel Windsor last night by the officers of tlio Agricultural Department, who came fro;m' all parts of the Dominion to'speed their late chief on his six months' holiday trip to the Old Land. Mr. E. Clifton presided, and was supported by the Hon. Dr. Findlay, representing the Ministry: Sir , Joseph Ward (Prime. Minister and Minister for Agriculture), and the Hon. T.;Mackenzie (Ministerdesignate) sent apologies and good wishes. Amongst those present were Messrs. James M'Kerrow and A.'Barron, veterans of tihe Civil Service.
