THE RITUAL QUESTION
A STORM: BETTER THAN STAGNATION. ' : (Hy' TELEGRAPH—SPECIAL- COBRESPONDENT.) j _ Auckland, Aprd 2G 1 : -Ihe question of- ritual at -St. Paul's ' was referred to by the vicar (tho Rov C. 1 A. B. Watson) in his sermon last night, by 1 way of preliminary to the annual meeting ' of tho parish to-mcht. "Whilst I want to ! soo everything _ working happily : and hair- ,j nioniously, said Mr, Watsonm tho conrs© of his remarks, "1 would rather havo a t storm in the parish every week than the .t deadly lethargy which passes under the name ' of peaco, but which is only stagnation. • I i can orily say that _ I am not going to 'break 1 out, but if I consider anything,to be helpful to tho parishioners, or really beneficial to tho s sorvicos. I will continue to- nso it. As re- 1 gards-the carrying of .tho -processional 'cross' being extraordinary, I venture to say that in ; ten years' time thero will hardly )jo a church of any size whioh will not have ajjrocessional cross carried, and meanwhile I do not. intend to. have, any more processional j hymns without the carrying of, a processional s cross." 1 - . .
