It was tho custom for- tho shunting engine to take vans from tlio Main-Trunk' train and inn , them 011 to tho loop, line to await the arrival ' of the Now-l'lymouth-Welliugtoir mail train, to which wcro then attached".- To m.ako' ' this transfer, it was nccessai'v' for .the shunt "... to foul tho main line.
