WOMEN CIVIL SERVANTS.
_ Sir, — to a recent letter re. abolition of women civil servants, I quite agree that the Government should dispense with their services. Instead of . filling a position suitablo- to their sex; they" are: depriving many capable men of earning an honest livelihood. I have personally noticed that the womendp not take the. same amount of interest in their work as men, no doubt on account of the leniency shown, likewise the privileges and concessions ! granted to them by the,officials.'. Apart from this I consider that .it, is entirely lout of place for women to bo rubbing shoulders all, day long in an office with the opposite sex, when they should be at. home, attending. to domestic duties, .to fit themselves for their proper position in life, or should seek fresh. pastures and obtain occupation' more; befitting to their sex. .■ . If this wero carried into .force many a good man could get employment,' and in all probability would settle, down., in life, which would , prove most beneficial to tho Dominion in the long run.—I T am, etc., • HAWKE'S BAY.
