The.', course was in firstclass order, and the attendance good. One or two events wore won easily, but still tho lacing was interesting. Armlet's tiinq in tlio Great Easter Handicap beat Savoury's Australasian record by- one-fifth of a! second, and she won very easily, though evidently tiring at the finish. Provocation's win in tho Uhampagiio Stakes established his claim to bo regarded,as tho,best two-year-old.of the season, and ho als.o established a new record, beating tho best; previous iimofor tbo race by one-iifth of a second. AV. O'Counoll, who rode; Stronghold in. tho hurdle race, had a very bad spill, and,,was removed in an unconscious stato to the Christchurch Hospital. This evening his condition showed no .improvement;- Tho totalisator investmeuts amounted to £17,853, as against £15,026 last year, while bookmakers' fees totalled £342 10s.
