Tho ceremony was conducted by tlio Rov. C. H. Isaacson, Mr. Roland Griffith acting as groomsman, the brido being supported by her sister, Miss Annio Howard. Tho bridal party and their friends partook of a wedding breakfast ill the schoolroom. Tauhcrinlkau Races. Wellington'people were inclined to think on Saturday that tho sun could not bo shining anywhere at thia end of tho island, but as a matter of fact Wairarapa folk had quite, a good time. A number of visitors turned out to see tho Tauhcrinikau races, but though the day was dry, it was grey and threatened rain, and consequently coats and skirts were the favourite wear. Mrs ; C. Bidwili wore a navy blue costume and largo picture hat; Mrs. W. C. Bidwili, silver grey voile, and hat trimmed with blue; Mrs. Abbott, cornilawcr blue costume, and larj'o black hat; Mrs. Kebbnl, blue costume anu toque with two vivid blue wings; Mrs. Clias. All tho arrangements that had been made by the committee, who are taking charge of the University Tournament lor Saturday afternoon were spoiled by the. weather, .In tho morning, when tho visitors should havo been out of doors somewhere, it was wet < enough to melt them, so, after they had .been officially received, they stayed on at the Town Hall, and enjoyed an organ recital. In the afternoon there w.as to havo been tennis, and tea was to have been served on the grounds. As tho rain fell steadily an adjournment was mado to Victoria College, where all tho afternoon through tho students enjoyed ' themselves amazingly. They had an impromptu concert, which was very good, and after tea they wound up the afternoon with a dance. As part of a tournament prqgramiiio, tho party was not in order, but as a means of enabling tho students from the different colleges to meet it was excellent. By tho way, the debate in the evening, though good, was by no means representative. Up in tho gallery at the Concert Hall, which was reserved for students, there were perhaps more women than men, but on the platform men alone wcro to be seen. Of course, women students are commonly more retiring than the men. They do not often ra-iso their voices in debate, but while the men get up on the platform and explain their views, tho women students sit, and think. Still there aro women students who have a reputation as debaters, and one college at least might well havo sent a woman representative. The Lady Bowlers. The Kelburne lady bowlers went- up to Greytown on Saturday, in spite.of the unpleasant weather, and were, rewarded for their enterprise by running into sunshine, and spending a much pleasanter 'time than would havo been possiblo in Wellington. They were entertained at lunch by. the Greytown Ladies' Bowling Club, and returned to , town in the afternoon. After a very close contest the scores were as follow:—No. 1 rink—Greytown 18, Kelburne 19; No. 2 rink—Greytown IS, Kelburno 20. A Nurses' Danca. Tho Wellington Trained Nurses' Association is giving a danco in St. Peter's Schoolroom on Majr 7, which will bo open to nurses and their friends. This is not to take- tho place of the nurses' dinner, which has been given for tho past two years, and which is to become an annual institution. _It is merely a supplementary means of raising funds for tho work of the association. Palmerston North News. Things have been very quiet socially since the polo tournament ended. A £reat number 'went to Wanganui for Easter-to take part in the farewell to Mr. Empson.
