CARTERTON.

A meeting of the General Committee of tho Wairarapa P. and A. Society was held on Thursday afternoon, when the Wairarapa Hockey Association was granted tho uso of*the society's grounds for matches at a rental of £2 2s. Two resignations were accepted, and five new mombers were elected. Notice of motion was given that the butterfat competition be open to any member of tho association, who may not necessarily bo a supplier to the dairy factor}'. The General Committee of tho South Wairarapa Poultry Association met on Thursday afternoon, Mr. C. Reid presiding. The matter of going into tho question of holding an egg-laying competition was held over until next meeting. Committees were set up as follow:—Programme, Mossrs. C. and D. Reid, J. Standen, W. B. Allen, E. Eagle, jun., H. M'Pheo, H. Deller, and R. J. Chapman; protest committee, Messrs. J. M. Lightfoot, W. B. Allen, and C. Reid; art union, Messrs. H. Oatt, D. Reid, R. J. Chapman, E. Eaglo, jnu., and W. 'fucker. The Programmo Committee decided to meet on Saturday, April 17, at 2 o'clock, and several small details were delegated to the- secretary to attend to. Mr. T. H. Hughes has donated a football to tho Carterton Football Club. At a meeting of the Fire Brigado a donation of £1 was voted towards the widow and children of a late Christchurch fireman. Fireman Clias. Sadler was accorded a vote of thanks for his donation of a photograph, of the dple/iates, who attended tho Auckland Conference.
