An inquest was held on tho body of Salmon, tho Marengo selector who was shot with a revolver by his fifteen-year-old daughter when ho was quarrelling with her mother. Six shots wero fired, killing Salmon on tho spot. The daughter (who had been arrested on a charge of murder) deposed that her father threatened to kill her mother because sho refused to take somo medicine ho wished to givo her. Ho followed her mother out of tho kitchen. Witness shortly after, hearing her mother scream for help, got a revolver. She found her father holding her mother by tho throat, and shot him. A verdict of "justifiable homicide" was returned. (Rcc. April 9, 4.15 p.m.) Sydney, April 9. Salmon, who was shot by his daughter, resided for somo years in New Zealand. Ho returned to Sydney several months ago.
