Shortly before nine o'clock last night the New Zealand Shipping Company's liner Kuapehu, from London, via Cape Town and Hobart, arrived in the stream. Pratique will bo granted this morning, and the vessel berthed at Queen's Wharf. THE LANGTON GRANGE. . ' Cabled advice received by the local agents of tho F.H.S. Line reports that the Langton Grango left Sydney on Saturday for Auckland, where she is duo next Thursday. The vessel should arrive at Wellington about Monday, April 19. ABAHURA DELAYED. Heavy weather on the Groymputh bar yesterday morning prevented the Aratiura from cutering, but it was expected that the sea would moderate sufficiently to allow her to cross inwards yesterday evening. She is timed to sail on the return'journey at nine this morning. THE DRAYTON GRANGE. Owing to tho heavy weather prevailing at Waitara, the F.H.S. Lino steamer Drayton Grange proceeded from Wanganui to Wellington, instead of first calling at Waitara. She is expected k> leave here about the end of the week for Waitara, Picton, Timaru. and Lyttelton, whence she sails finally for West Coast United Kingdom ports on April 24. THE SYDNEY BOAT. There aro 127 saloon and 58 steerage passengers for New Zealand ports on board tho Union Company's steamer Jfoana, which left Sydney on Saturday for Wellington. Sho is due to-morrow morning, and sails in the ovening for Melbourne, via southern ports and Hobart. THE WAIEATT'S RUNNING. Messrs. Bannntyne and Company adviso that the W&irau will miss her usnal Saturday trio to Nelson and Motuoka this. week., Tho vessel, which 13 duo this morning, leaves at 4 p.m. for Nelson, calling first at Motueka. and, on Thursday, sho will sail for Nelson and Motueka, TYSER LINE. It is now expected that tho Tyser Line steamer Indralcma, from London, via Australian and northern ports, will arrive hero on Thursday. She left London on January 23. The Whakarua. from New York, via ports, is also expected to arrive on Thursday to discharge, and the Hawke's Bay is due back from Dunedin to load on Good Friday.

THE STEAHtEB KAKOOIjA. - A new stoamer, the Karoola, which is being huilt for Messrs. M'llwroith. H'Eacharn, and Co. Pty., Ltd., for the Australian coastal trade, was launched from the yards of Jtessrs. Harland and Wolff, at Belfast, on March 9. Tho Karoola is 436 feet in length over all, 56 feet boam, 23 feet depth of hold, and propelled by twin screws. Her engines tho Harland and Wolff's quadruple expansion balanced engines, tho size of cylinders being 23 inches, 33J inches, 18 inches, and £9 inches, with a stroke of 54 inches, working at 2151b. pressure. The steamer has five decks, namely, lower, main, awning, promenade, nnd boat, with on orlop dock in No. 1 hold. She will carry 300 first and second saloon passengers, and 120 steerage. Particular attention has been given to airiness and ventilation, the system of ventilation being most, elaborate. The Karoola. wilt have a sneed of 15 knots. She will be fitted with all tho latest auxiliary and navigating appliances, such as refrigerating engines, electric I signalling, and telephone installations. Instead of calling at Timaru on tho way to Dunedin, tho Gorinna, which leaves this port to-morrow, will make a call at PictoD, omitting Timaru. This morning the Union Company's steamer Manapouri is due back from Papeete and Raratonga. She has on board an American mail for New Zealand. The Shaw, Savill steamer Delphic is dno tomorrow from 'Gisborne, and an effort will be raado by tho local agents to dispatch her for London on Thursday. To cone with tho Easter traffic in the Wei-lington-Lyttelton service, the Waikare, sailing from this port to-day, will not proceed through to Duncdin, via Lyttelton, but will return here from Lyttelton, sail again for the south on Thursday night. To-day it is expected that the Norwegian tramp steamer Thyra will proceed from hero to Timaru and Dunedin with the residue of her cargo of jarrah from Bunbury, West Australia. After discharge at Dimedin tho Thyra will leave for Bunbury, and there load a second shipment of jarrah for New' Zealand ports. An exchange reports that Mr. W. Smart, chief superintendent engineer for the TJnion Steam Ship Company, is to go to England in the Corinthic, sailing on April 22, on business for the company. Mr. D. M'Murrich, superintendent engineer at Wellington, will take Mr. Smart's place at Duncdin, and Mr. 11. Paterson, chief engineer of the Maori, will take tip tho duties of superintendent engineer at Wellington. Mr. J. Basire, chief engineer of the Loongana, will transfer to the Maori, and Mr. Slirpan, late chief engineer of tho Warrimoo, will join the Loongana. Sir. A. F. Levestam, lato of the Eptomahana, is to join tho Warrimoo as chief engineer.
