April 12 arid 13.-C.J.C. Autumn. April 15 and 16.—Westland H.C. Autunu. REMINDER. Owners are again reminded that acceptances for the first day's events at the Wairarapa Racing Club's Autumn meeting closo at 8 o'clock this evening, with the club's secretary, Mr. E. A. Laery, Fcathorston. NOTES AND COMMENTS. IBy Gluncoe.J Racegoers will havo numerous meetings to engage their attention during the Easter holidays. On Saturday, tho Auckland Racing Club's Aut'imn meeting commences, when tho Easter Handicap, one mile, will bo decided. The fixture will be continued on Monday and Tuesday. Other meetings in the North Island are the Wairarapa Racing Club's Autumn meeting on Saturday and Monday, the Feilding Jockey Club s meeting on Monday and Tuesday, and the Patea. and Waipukurau meetings both on Monday. In tho South Island the Canterbury Jockey Club's meeting takes place at Riccarton on Monday and Tuesday, and there are half-a-dozen smaller fixtures in different parts. Local racing enthusiasts will have an opportunity of attending the Wairarapa Racing Club's meeting on Saturday and Monday. An early morning train will convoy passengers to 'Fcathorston, and a special train leaves for Wellington after the last raco each day. The Feilding Jockey Club s meeting, too, is within reach of the city, and the mail train usually lands passengers in Feilding in timo to witness the first race. The principal attraction at this fixture on Easter Monday is the Feilding Cup, one mile and a half, usually contested by the best handicap horses in the province. The Wellington Pony and Galloway Racing Club s April meeting will be continued on Saturday and, being held on the Miramar Racecourse, within easy reach of the city, will probably hold its own against counter attractions.

Tangimoana and Bourrasque are the only two horses engaged in this year's Feilding Cup that contested last year's contest for the same event. Each has more weight to carry, and Bourrasquo meets Tangimoana on lib. worse terms, than when the Sou'-wester gelding defeated her last year. Sir Artegal is being prepared for his Ellerslie engagements by the Auckland trainer, T. A. Williams. His usual trainer, R. Barlow, will be engaged at the Patea meeting. Curator' (Cure —Konini) was easily the biggest horse racing at the Nelson fixture, and must be one of the biggest in training in the Dominion. Conquestina was only raced on the first day at Masterton as the soft going was not to her liking. Her next appearance will be in the Ongo Hack, five furlongs, at Feilding. San Fernando and Gaelic finished within a neck of one another on each of the three occasions that thoy mot at the, Nelson meeting. Thetis and Wharekoa, two of the candidates engaged in. the Maiden Scurry at Feilding, are sister and brother. Sunbonnet has been supported a good deal for the Thompson Handicap, to be run this month. The Seaton Delaval mare is very well now, but she will have a good deal more weight to carry than she had when she ran a dead heat with Sea King in the samo event last season. The Stepniak gelding Coronella was mado favourite for the Trial Stakes, five furlongs, run at tho Aspendalo Park races, Victoria, on Saturday week, but he was beaten a few yards from tho post. ' At the inquest on the death of the jockey Thomas Clayton, who received fatal injuries in the accident at Rosehill a fortnight ago, the evidence showed that Clayton had attributed the accident to his own mount galloping on the heels of another horse. Ho blamed none of tho other jockeys. Iu the Wangaimoana Welter at Tauberinikau on Saturday, Silken lloin will meet Maiora on 81b. better terms than when she was defeated by tho Soult gelding on tho first day of the Danneyirke meeting. In the Easter Handicao, Maiora has to concede Silken Roin 81b.", and should, this pair meet in either of the events mentioned, it will be interesting to see how thoy finish. The oream of the pony sprinters wore engaged in tho Reclamation Handicap at Miramax on Saturday last, and the bookmakers state that it was the best betting race that has yet been decided on the course. St. Helena, the winner, was the actual favourite, but had Merrimanu got up in time the fielders would havo had a royal win, as sho was about tho biggest outsider of the eight starters. For a few strides it looked as if she would head St. Helena, but the latter, who won by three parts of a. leugth, was apparently drawing away again at the finish. In connection with tho Wellington Racing Club's Autumn meeting, Messrs. Harcourt and Co. will hold an auction sale of racecourse privileges on Thursday next at their auction rooms ou Lambton Quay.

TRAINING AT ELLERSLIE. (Dγ TEIiEGBAm—FJtESS ASSOCIATION.) Auckland, April 5.
