The steamer Pacifique, which arrived here on Monday, communicated at sea on April 3 with tho steamer St. Louis, en route from Vila to Sydney. The latter reported that on March 29 a terrific cyclbno passed over the islands from the south-cast, causing great destruction to shipping, plantations, and other property. A tidal wave swept Teouma, carrying dwellings and crops away. Tho Government buildings wero blown down at Vila, and a schooner and the Government yacht Onioni wero cast ashore. Tho last-named was refloated. Wheu the St. Louis left no news had arrived from the other islands.
