Information of a sensational character, indicating a thorough examination by Japanese spies of the country lying between the Northern Territory and Brisbane, lias roached tho Minister for Defence, Senator Penrco. Several squatters liavo informed him that during tho past few months a small party of three or four Japanese suddenly appeared at various stations and small townships in Queensland territory near tho South Australian border. Thoy carried a kinematograph and exhibited pictures for tho benefit of tho station hands and settlers. Between tbo performances they questioned tho people as to the location of waterholes and the direction of all roads and tracks, tho number of cattle in tho district, tlio number of people employed on the stations, and tho quantity of stores they possessed. Tho Japanese also sought infor-. mation likely to bo useful to an army on tho march. A careful watch is now being kept on their movements.
