IBT TIMSORirH— PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Auckland, March 29. According to Mr. George Anyon, of Fiji, who passed through Auckland to-day on his way to Wellington from the Islands, there aro prospects for gold-mining in Suva. Mr. Anyon showed samples of heavily-mineralised ore containing free gold, copper, and other minerals, and stated that a five-ton parcel of this ore had been treated by an assayer for a yield of 2oz. 12dwt. gold, 55 per cent, copper, and 3oz. of silver per ton. At present Fiji, not having been proclaimed a goldncld, the areas traversed by the roofs from which the samples in question came cannot bo worked. It is expected, however, that on the return of tho Governor to tho group mining laws will be proclaimed similar to those in Victoria, when the pegging of claims will be proceeded with. Already, Mr. Anyon states, i there lias been an influx to Fiji of West Aus- | tralian mining people.
