He has been secured by the same buyer that took Volume to the Land of the Rajahs a couplo of seasons back. Malt-ino, who won the Rawson Stakes at Rosohill on Saturday, was considered by many to havo been short of a gallop when she competed in tho Newmarket Handicap at Flomington, for she afterwards won two races at tho same meeting. The, Rawson Stakos at Rosehill is an unimportant event, but it generally attracts several of the horses engaged in the Doncaster Handicap. In connection with the Masterton R.C. meeting, next Wednesday, Sir. J. H. Pollock has declared the following re-handicaps :— Waipipi Club, ono mile- and a quarter—Whctumarama from 7et. 21b. to 7st. 111b. March Handicap, six furlongs.—Waikaraka. from Bst. Clb. to Bst. 101b. The Hawke's Bay Guineas winner, Kopu, has not been giving complete satisfaction in his work during tho past couple of weeks, and it is possiblo that he may not be ablo to raco until tho Hawke's Bay Jockey Club's autumn meeting. Maid of All Work's withdrawal from tho two principal ovents at tho pony races next Saturday camo as a surprise, as she appeared to bo well treated in both races. Mr. A. A. Cuthbertson, of Stratford, who was formerly well acquainted with the maro Kato O'Shane (g.g. dam of the Wanganui Cup winner, Kilmarnock), has received the following reply from Mr. Larry Markcy, in _ answei! tcj ; an inquiry on tho subject:—" Tho maro you moan is Kate O'Shane. Sho is by the Irish horse Caledon out of Laura. Laura by Skeleton out of Maggie. Maggie was by Emigrant out of Spaewife. If you look tip the New Zealand Stud Book you will find Kato O'Shano's pedigree. Tho chestnut horse Tattler is by Python out of La Vendetta, and not The Fly.
