tBTT TEIEGEAt-a.— BPICUT. CORKEarONDBNT.I , Auckland, March 28. In connection with the dispute in the butchering trade, recently filed for hearing before the Conciliation Commissioner (Mr. ,T. Harlo Giles), the latter gentleman, exercising his authority under clause 41 of tbo Amending Act, suggested to tho employers and the workers' unions that they should hold a friendly . conference. Mr. Giles offered to preside unofficially at such a conference-. Tho employers accepted tho suggestion, and appointed representatives for tho proposed conference. The commissioner has, however, notified Mr. C. • Grosvener, secretary of tho Master Butchers' Union, and of tho Employers' Association, that the workers' union declines to agree to a conference on 'the lines suggested, and reguests that the dispute should be dealt with in the usual way.
