Tho hearing concluded in tho King's Bench recently of an action brought by Mrs. Kcila Augusta Brodt, an American lady, against the- London and SoutMVcstern Hailway, claiming damages for injuries to herself and for tho loss of her former husband, Mr. M'Donald, in tho disaster to tho Plymouth express at Salisbury in July 1906.. Tho jury awarded tho plaintiff £7000 for personal injuries, but no damages for the loss of her husband. Judgment was given accordingly. Stay of execution was allowed. The Judge remarked that the damages wore more than ho should have given. Ho Rave defondants costs on tho issuo claiming damages for the loss of the husband. Execution was stayed on tho usual terms. His Lordship ordered £2000 paid into Court by tho defendants to bo paid out to tho plaintiff, "and formally amended tho plaintiff's writ, which it was stated claimed £20,000—£14,000 for the loss of her husband, and £6000 for injuries to tho plaintiff—to bring it into accordance with the verdict—-namely £7000 for injuries to the plaintiff.
