NATIVE UNREST.
THE TROUBLE IN SAMOA. (DY TELKUItAI'U—I'ItESS ASSOCIATION.) Auckland, March 26. Captain Allon, who arrived from Samoa, where ho resides, a few days ago, was interviewed this afternoon regarding tho native unrest there, which Ims resulted in the German Government sending out warships. Ho remarked: The troublo is that thero are a lot of people down there who, like your pakeha Maoris in tho old days, try to stir up .trouble between tho natives and tho Government. They lead the natives to believe that if trouble was started England' and America would interfere, and the natives would get back the island again. _ To my mind what Samoa requires is a stirring up similar to that done by Sir Arthur Gordon, who made a clean sweep of a lot of those kind of people from another placo. Tho natives of Samoa aro.always talking about how much choaper it would be if they wero like Tonga, thinking they would havo smaller taxos to pay, but as far as I can find out tho difference is as between 365. at Tonga and 12s. at Samoa.
