SCHOOL APPOINTMENTS.

The following school appointments have been made by tho Education Board:—le Aro: Mrs. Smith and Mrs. Wilkinson (assistants); Mr. Gould, transferred fromPongaroa, to be first assistant. Maranui: Mr. L. Arciis, malo assistant; Miss Scott, female assistant. Waihakcke: Miss L. Matthews, solo teacher. Tho board had before it letters from four teachers, who, for reasons more or less satisfactory, had, after completion of the whole procedure of appointment, refused tho appointments offered, whereby considerable inconvenience had been occasioned at tho schools affected, besides some expense to tho board. Such a practice, unless valid reasons exist; may in the future lead tho board to hesitate before recommending to committees the promotion of teachers who act in this-way.
