MR. BOLTON WAITED UPON,

A deputation headed by Mr. F. Fanning waited upon Mr. F. G. Bolton yesterday afternoon, and presented a requisition signed by 2056 persons, asking him to contost the City Mayoralty at the fortcoming election. Tho requisition stated that tlie signatories felt sure that tho majority of the ratepayers appreciated Mr. Bolton's services oil various local bodies.

Mr. Bolton returned thanks for the requisition. It would, lie said, bo impossible for him to reply for a few days, but bo would give his answer at tho earliest possiblo moment. He know that tho people did not want fireworks or oratory, but careful and strict attention to business, and if ho stood he would not go beforo tho ratepayers with any fanciful schemes. Tho number of signatures camo as a surprise to him, owing to tho short space of timo at tho disposal of tho deputation.
