WEDNESDAY MATCHES. The Wednesday senior competition was continned on the Basin Resorve yesterday afternoon. In the Oriental-Rivals match, the Oriental eloven wero not disposed until just on the call of time. They put together a total of 2GO runs, of which Mooro made 01. In the Artil-lery-Union match, Artillery, batting first, mado 132, of which Col. Tuson contributed 40. Union hare lost four wickets for 71 runs. The following are tho scores:—

A PENGUIN FUND MATCH. Tho fancy dress cricket match, Press versus Wednesday Cricket Association, was played at Newtown Park yesterday afternoon, aud resulted in a win for the Wednesday team. Tho scores were:—Wednesday. Association team, 111 runs, and Press, OG runs. The fancy dresses of the players were kindly lent for the occasion by tlie- Pollard Opera Company. Some ladies were good enough to take up the collection, and handed in the sum of iff 7s. 6Jd. The Wednesday Cricket Association will defray all the expenses, so that the above amount will pe handed over (without any deduction) to his Worship the Mayor to-day. Mr. T. Taylor captained the Press team, and Mr. W. Duncan the Wednesday team. Attired as a Maori, Mr. Duncan created a good deal of, amusement, and was the soul of the day's sport. Credit is duo to the secretary, Mr. Harry Coburn, for tho general arrangements. A return match is to bo played on the Basin Reserve on April 22. Detailed scoros wero' as follow:—
