Lioutenans Shackleton intended to follow the route, of Captain Scott's expedition of 1902 (shown in the above plan), and from its terminus mako a dash for the South Pole. The- plan also shows Mount Erebus, in tho vicinity of which Lieutenant Shackleton fixed his winter quarters.
