The dearth lof agricultural workers in Clutha this year was tho worst experienced in tho last forty years, and harvesting operations were retarded considerably. The harvest was. plentiful, but tho labourers were fow. Despito tho offer of Rood wages farmers found tho labourers loth to leave tho towns. Tho impression in tho country is that the. workers will weaken their position, by refusing to accept agricultural work.
