SCULLING.
A, good long, early morning walk with his trainer, Webb, a hard spurt in his boat at 10.30 o'clock, and again at 3.30, form tho training programmo of G. Whclch, who is preparing for his. match with Fogwell at Akaroa. He has not started any fast work yet. Besides plenty of walking ho goes in. for breathing exercises,- boxing, and skipping. Wheicli says lie feels in tip-top condition. He scales when stripped 10st., and expects to row at that weight, although it is much heavier than what he has raced at befpre. Webb is a good trainer, and thoroughly believes in a variety of exercises. Ho considers Wheicli will be in splendid condition on tho day. of the race. H helch s now boat, by Norton, was to arrive this week. .Lately he has been using Webb'# boat, built by Towns. Ho has had two pairs of sculls made by H. Norton, and is very pleased with them. He states that lie feels very different from.what lie did when training for tho race against Thoroughgood, for the neat 111 Australia made hini feel very languid alter any exercise.
