SURVEYORS' EXAMINATIONS.

SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES. Tho Wellington section of the surveyors' examinations of Australia and New Zealand were held last week simultaneously with others held at Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth, and Hobart. For this examination, the papers for which were prepared by tho Sydney Board, 13 candidates offered themselves in New Zealand. Of these five have completed their examinations successfully. These aro as follow :— W. D. R. Collans, Wellington. J. S. Porteous, Wellington. M. J. M. Macarthy, Wellington. J;. F. Murray, Hawera. H. C. Hooper, Hamilton. ' Thesi> five will receive certificates of competency from the. Surveyors' Board in duo course. A sixth candidate, J. A. Sandford, of Auckland, has completed tho written portion of the examination, but has yet to pass in practical astronomy.
