JUNIOR CRICKET.
Tho Newtown v. Gas Company match resulted as follows:—Newtown in their first innings made 101 —Russell 51, Maplcsdon 25, Parkins 31, Berg 13. In their second innings Newtown made 10!) for tin; loss of four wickets. G. Johnstone 11, Russell 20, J. Johnstone 14, I'arkins 40, Borden 17 reached doublo figures. Gas Company in their first innings reached 130— O. Johnstone 43, Currie 23, Gosling IS, Wctlicrall 11. In their second innings Gas Company made 133. ' 0. Johnstone 46. Currie 27, Nicol 30, Gosling 11, got into double figures. Parkins, Berg, and Russell secured the wickets for Newtown, Currie and Gosling getting tho wickets for Gas Company. Old Boys beat Wadestown on the first, innings. For their first innings, the Old Boys scored IS7, and 111 for seven wickets in tho second. Wadestown in their first innings made 131. The chief scorers for Old Boys were—First innings: Beechcy 29, A. E. Wilson 51, C. Wilson 18, Suckling 29, M'Gowait 24, Sloan 15. Second innings: Beechcy 21, Dempsry 55, not out. Wadestown: Hav 11, Bowles 20, Collett *55, Butler 21, Moffatt 27. Tho match, Wellington College v. St. John's, was concluded on Saturday. The results at tho conclusion of last day's play wero:—Wellington College, first innings, 64; St. John's, first innings, 75, and 5S for 7 wickets. St. John's second innings realised 133 (Semmens 25 not out, M'Lean 21, Prain 19). Wellington College, requiring 144 runs to win, were disposed of for So (Stainton 25, Hannay 17, Parker 12). Bowling for St. Joint's, Thomas tool; 5 wickets for 27, and Ihiske 5 for 31. Findl.iy and Cliilds bowled best for College. THIRD CLASS. St. Mark's were defeated by Karon by an innings and 91 runs, Charlton (20, not out), and Morris (10) batting well. St. _ Mark's totals were 41 and 57, while Karori scored IR9 of which C. Spiers (60), T. Spiers (26), Read (18), Hill (16), Monaghan (11), Atkin (11). and M'Kenzic (10) wero the doublc,'igure players Morrison and Cording handled tiie ball for St. Mark's, while C. Spiers (9 wickets for 31 runs) and Hill (9 for 57) disposed of Karori's opponents in both innings. BOYS' LEACUE. The following are tho results of tbo matches played under the auspices of tho Wellington Boys' Cricket League:— Senior Grade.—Y.M.C.A. A team beat Diamonds by 5 runs, thus winning tho senior grade championship and cup, 190S-1909. Junior Grade.—Boys' Institute A beat Marist Brothers by an innings and 14 runs, thus winning the junior grade championship and cup, 1908-1909. \ SCHOOL CRICKET. The following is the Wellington Public Schools' representative team to play against Wairarapa at the Basin Reserve oil Saturday next:—Christopherson (Kilbirnic), Canty (Kilbirnie), Murphy (South Wellington), Smith (captain), (South Wellington), Sim (Clyde Quay), Bates .(Clydo Quay), O'Brien (Brooklyn), Grey (Newtown), Knapp (Newtown), Grubb (Normal), Bridge (Hutt). Emergency: Mabin (Brooklyn), Garrod (South Wellington). On Saturday, the masters beat the representative boys by 76 to 36; Caddiek 15 and Dempsey, 21 scored well for the masters, whilst Knapp 12 and Bates 11 were the best amongst' the boys. A friopdly game was played between teams representing Messrs. Read and Fenwick's and the Woollen Company, at Newtown Park on Saturday. The latter mado 48 in their first innings, of which Forrester contributed 13. Tho former team scored 40. At tho second attempt, Woollen Company made 40, liodson making 16 of this total, and their opponents won by ten wickets. IN OTHER CENTRES. •AUCKLAND. (DY TELEGRAPH—rI'.F.SS ASSOCIATION.) Auckland, March 13. The Auckland Cricket Association's district championship matches were resumed today, tho tenth round being commenced in dull weather and on a damp wicket. In the senior grade, Eden A disposed of City for 54 (flenms 19). G. Mills took five wickets for 26. Eden A made 121 for the loss of two wickets (Brown 4S, Cummings 48 not out). Parnell's first innings against Ponsonby realised 122 (Sale 45, Fairburn 21 not out). M'Coy took four wickets for 22. Ponsonby made 21 for six wickots, Hutehings taking four wiclcet3 for 7 runs. University, against Grafton, made 144 (Robinson 54, Faweett 32, Ellis 22). Mason took 5 wickets for 67, and C. Hay 4 for 39. Grafton made 28 for the loss of ono wicket. North Shore hatted tho whole afternoon against the Eden Colts and made 285 (Madden 42, Philson 60, Dacre 74, and Woodward 21, not out). CIIRISTCITURCH. (BY TELEGIUrH—MESS ASSOCIATION.) Cftrfstchurch, March 13. Tho ninth round of tho grade matches has been-concluded. In ihe match Riccarton v. West Christclmrch tho first-named won by an innings and 38 runs, their opponents only scoring 221 in two innings. For tho losers, Chrystall (41) and Donnelly (40) were the highest scorers. In the match St. Albans v. Sydenham, the last-mentioned won after a fairly even game. Sydenham made 233 (Patrick 50, M'Clelland 44), and St. Albans 175. Linwood, 322 (Lawrenco 84, A. E. Ridiey 50, A. E. Young 47, A. W. Thomas 46), beat East Cliristcluirch 180 (A. Costello 41). Liuwood aro 19 points, and cannot be beaten for the championship, as there is only one moro match to play. t
