ENTERTAINMENTS.

■\ OPERA HOUSE. It is some time . since the melodious comic opera, "Hip Vau Winkle," was last produced here. No doubt playgoers will be pleased at having an opportunity of again listening to the many delightful melodies with which this work abounds. That Mr. Pollard's judgment in reviving the piece at the Opera House is correct is proved by the box office, as the booking for to-night and to-morrow night is the largest of the season. There is a certain amount of curiosity displayed by ,the patrons of this company as to how these clever young people will como through the ordeal of such a work as "Rip." When staged in Wanganui on Friday last, the verdict of the public was that it was the best production of this work ever seen upon a local stage, and equalled anything Mr. Pollard had ever placed before his patrons. Mr. Charles Albert is cast for tho name part, and as the character is totally dissimilar from his wine-loving "Sultan," admirers of the clever comedian will have another opportunity of witnessing his remarkablo versatility. '" Rip " will also be given at the matinee to-morrow afternoon. Tli? performance will commence at 2.30, and children will be admitted at half-price. HIS MAJESTY'S.
