CHECKING OF LUGGAGE.
(Bi TBi.ioiurH—sricut. conitEsro'rnnNT i Auckland, March 11. A gontloman who recently arrived in Auckland via the Main Trunk routo is by no means enamoured of tho Itailivay Department's methods. 'When ho embarked upon his journey at Wellington ho was informed that the express stopped at Ncwmarkot, and ho consequently had his luggage checked for that station. Tho express, however, did not stop at Ncwmarkot. When on arrival at Auckland the traveller went to procure his belongings he was told, after a lot of trouble, and several interviews with officials, thaUhcy had been transferred at Moroer, and would follow by a later train that would stop at Newmarket. Tho disgusted passenger had perforce to await tho arrival of tho slower train and endeavour to mako tho bost of the inconvenience. Tho incident shows the necessity for somo more up-to-dato method of luggage checking.
