ANNUAL DEMONSTRATION. [BT TCLKGR4M— WHSS 4SSOCIATION.I Auckland, March 10. Thei United Fire Brigades' annual demonstration commenced here to-day. Tlio events are boing contested by 700 iiremen from all parts of tho Dominion. The following aro the results: — Hose Heel Flat and Ladder (five men): Mastorton, 37 2-osec, lj Auckland City, 37 3-ojec., 2; Duucdin South, 37 4-Ssoc., 3; Timaru, 38 2-ssec.,-4. Hokitika and Westport, 38 4-ssec, wero also close up. Manual Engine Competition (live men): Napier, 41 3-fisec., 1; Timaru, 43scc, 2; Hawera, 4osec., 3: Huntings, JGsec, 4. Manual Engine (ono man); Haivera, 35sec., 1; Napier, 3t>sec, 2; Geraldine, 37soc, 3; Timaru. 3Sscc, 4, , / . Coupling Events'(two men): Tlierc we're 83 entries in this 'event, and it was not completed to-day. Eight more teams have to compete. Timanv-is leading, having made a' record time for iho events 34 3-ssce; Dannovirke, 3nsec.; EastoWn Railway, 3o 4-osec. ; Dunedin South, 3o 4-ssee.; and Masterton, 35 l-ssec., have all done good work. To-morrow tho visiting firemen will be entertained nt a harbour excursion, and tho competitions will be continued on Saturday.
