ROWING ASSOCIATION.
INTERSTATE CHAMPIONSHIP FOURS SUGGESTED. A meeting of the council of the New Zealand Rowing Association was held Inst night in tho Star Boating Club's rooms, when there were present: Messrs. R. W. M'Villy (in the chair), 'i'. Lauchlin, W. J. Gamlin, J. E. Widdon, W. Coffey, and tho secretary (Mr. A. D. Bayfield). A letter was received from Auckland proposing that an oight-oared crew, consisting of the Waitemata and Blenheim Clubs' fours, who rowed first and second respectively in the lato New Zealand championship four-oared race, ho sent to compete for tho interstate Australian eight-oared championship, to bo held at Brisbane in May next. The council considered that owing to the lateness of the-season and tho short time allowed for training practically a new crew for a new stylo of rowing, it would he inadvisahlo to agree to the proposal. Thev are, however, in communication with the Aus'.tralian authorities, suggesting that an interstate fours ho included m tho programme, and if tho suggestion is complied with, and assistance is forthcoming from other New Zealand associations, an endeavour will bo made to scud tho Waitemata crow. ' ■ Applications for affiliation from tho Queenstown and Greymoiith Rowing Clubs were held over ponding receipt of further information. Permission was 'granted for a regatta to be held at (Juoenstown during Easter week, such regatta to be under the auspices of tlio Otago Howinc Association. II: was decided to write to the Auckland Association thanking them for their courtesy" to the council's representative at tho late championships.
