LOCAL SELECTIONS FOR THE CHAMPIONSHIPS. Messrs. Pollock, Heenan, and Bridge, tho selectors of the team to represent Wellington at the New Zealand Championship Meeting, at Dunedin, on March 20, have added W. G. Harding, of Napier, to the list of those finally selected. Harding is a runner with a good professional, record, and was reinstated by the old council last October, on the formation of the present amateur club in Napier. Up to the time.of his reinstatement he held the 440 ynrds professional championship of the Dominion, which he won in February of last year and, in. addition to the winner of tho quartermile test on Saurday, he will represent the Wellington Ventre in that distance, and the half-mile run. Harding will probablv bo seen in action on the Basin Reserve at the "W.A.A.C. sports meeting on Saturday. The names of thoso finally selected in tho team to date areBurge, Sharpe, M'Kay, Harding, and Woodger' Advice has been received by the secretary of the W.A.A.C. that the Auckland team is leaving to-morrow for the championship meeting and,that the members thereof will compete at tho W.A.A.C. meeting on Saturday, on their way south. This will add to tho attraction of the gathering, especially as the Auckland contingent includes Hill, the 18-vear-old King's College student, who distinguished himself by winning the New Zealand Marathon race in Auckland last Saturday. Hill showed such form that his centre is sending him as its representative in the three-milo championship The meeting between the young runner and Sharpe, the New Zealand and Australasian champion, on Saturday, should bo of special interest. '. ' The selectors of the local centre's team havo now received definite notification from E J Williams, of Wangamii, and T. Stubbs, of Paliuerston North, of their intention to compete against J. Wilton, the local crack quartermilcr, in the -140 yards test race on Saturday A great race is also expected between Stubbs and Woodger (the Wellington Provincial champion) in tho 220 yards handicap. In this event they will start off tho scratch"* mark in the samo heat.
