An accident to a worker on the new Legislative' Council building, now in eourso of construction, occurred shortly after three o'clock yesterday afternoon. A carpenter named Mudge, a man in tho prime of life, fell from the framework, a distance of 12 or 13 feet, to tho ground. He alighted head downwards, hut owing to a slight depression in the ground, his weight came chiefly on his shoulders. Dr. Cahill, who was sent for, found that Mudiie bad sustained concussion of tho brain, some bruises on the shoulder, and general shock to the system. Ho was' removed to his home in the city. The doctor thinks the patient will soon recover, though there is just a possibility that tho full extent of the trouble may not bo apparent for a day or two.. Tho Fire Krisada received a call to Messrs. lshenvood and Ureuhan s drapory store in Riddiford Street at an early hour this morning. The fire started amongst somo stock stored on tho shelves, and was soon extinguished. No serious damagewas done. The main municipal roll will probably 1)0 nvaihhlo l»v March 21. The supplementary roll closes on April 14, and electors arc advised to enrol as early as possible. Saio lists for Messrs.
