Only a couple of votes wore recorded at tho Akatarawa pulilic school in connection with tho Hutt Licensing Committee election yesterday: Cotton 1, Cudby 2, Inglis 1, Ryder 1, Short 1, Stovcns 2, and Welch 2. Tho amended totals are: William Inglis 985, John Cotton 952, Henry Edmund Ryder S6l, Orton Stevens 825, John Cudby 709, Richard Walton Short CO2, Maurice Whitcwood Welch 502. There is therefore no alteration in the result which was announced yesterday, the first five being elected. A recount is being made to-day and to-morrow. FEILDING. Feilding, March 10. At tho licensing elections yesterday, the Trade ticket was returned, tho successful candidates being Messrs. Bailey, Bruce, Goodbchcrc, M'lieth, and Woolven. The NoLicense party had a ticket, which was defeated. PAHIATCTA. Woodville, March 10. The following have been elected to the Licensing Committee:—Messrs. Hawkins, Harris, Hughes, Norrell, and Harding. Four were on tho No-License ticket. NELSON. • Nelson, March 10. The No-License party, with 10 o'clock closing as their ticket, carried all before them at the licensing poll yesterday. Of the old committeemen four out of tho five sought re-election. Of these Messrs. E. Trask (who favoured 11 o'clock) and P. W. Coleman (10 o'clock) were defeated, while Messrs. Atmorc (10 o'clock) and I'. Best (11 o'clock) wore returned. Tho other three successful candidates wore nominees by the No-License league and advocates of 10 o'clock licenses, viz., Messrs. T. Pottit, M'Laren, and Watson. Of the votes, 6182 were polled for 10 o'clock straight-out, and 3939 for the "modcrate" ticket, which had unspecified opinions on tho hour of closing. MANAWATU. Marten, March 10. Tho Manawatu licensing returns just to hand are .as follow:—R. K.'Simpson, supported by both parties, 711; B. P. Lethbridge, No-License nominee, 515; F. Furnell,. Moderate, 512; A. C. Perry, NoLicense, 416; H.. Sutclitt'e, Moderate, 395; W. T. Bowatcr, No-License, 362; Hornblow, No-License, 359. The first five wero elected. The Moderate, party nominated three, who were returned out of.eleven candidates. RANGITIKEI. Marton, March 10. The following were elected for Rangitikei: —Messrs. Cole,'Simpson, Howie, Beban, and James. This represents a majority for tho Moderate party. OTAKI. Otaki, March 10. The Trade ticket was successful yesterday by a big majority. Messrs. M'Loavcy, Freeman, Lang, Tompsitt, and O'Connor wore elected... At Shannon (says The Dominion correspondent) .the Moderate party obtained, a large majority over the' No-Licenso candidates. Altogether 140 votes wero recorded, of which 22 wero invalid. Tho following were the votes accordod the No-Licenso representatives: —Byron Paul Brown 48, James Gillespie Barclay 44, William Calloway 12, John William Gibson 46, Ivor James 39, James Pearce 36, Francis David Taylor 7. Tho Mod-1 orate paity received the following votes:— Joseph Michael O'Connor 72, Herbort Freeman 59," Benjamin Ling 61, James M'Lcavey 64, William Tompsitt 57. CHALMERS.(BI TELECRAPH—PHESS ASSOCIATION.) Dunedin, March 10. The returns for the Chalmers licensing poll show that the 'No-Liccnso candidates havo been returned. Three small returns have yot to como, but cannot affect tho result.
