There was a further development in tho trial of tho church clerk Sanchez and Rophon (Duran's nephew), charged with having falsified a church record proving tho marriago of the dancer Josephine Duran with one Gabriel - Olivia, prior to her alleged marriage with tho late. Lord Sackville. It was alleged that the falsification was made in the interests of the Sackv.ille claimant, Ernest Henry Sackville-Wcst, said to. be the son ■ of.,Duran and Lord Sackvillo.' After the Public Prosecutor withdrew the indictment, Major Lionel Edward Sackville.West (nephew of the late Lord Sackvillo), as, intervener, continued tho prosecution against Rophon and Sanchez. His counsel commented upon the fact that Ernest Henry i Sackville-West had not been prosecuted. Tho jury found defendants not guilty, and'both were discharged. A 'third defendant in the original charge, named Anton, did hot appear. As he is still liable to. prosecution, the Court impounded the church register which is alleged to contain a record of the marriage of Duran and Olivia, whether genuine. or apocryphal. The "Daily Mail" states that the Court gave no decision regarding the document itself.
