AN OAMARU DEPUTATION. (HI TELEGBArH—rBESS ASSOCIATION.) Oamaru, March 8. Tlio Hon. J. A. Millar, Ministei for Railways, visited Oamaru to-day and received deputations on tho subject of the removal of tho level crossings over two of the principal streets of the town, and tho running of a special bi-weekly train on the Kurow lino. \Vith regard to tlio level crossings, Mr. Millar said it would cost from £10,000 to £-10,000 for an ovcrbridgo or a tunnel, whichcvor was adopted, and he held out no hopes of a favourable reply. In referonco to tho Kurow "special," the Minister quoted figures to show that the line paid only a half per cent, on the cost of construction. It may bo mentioned that the Kurow line is ono of tho best patronised branch linos in the South Island. Tho Minister, however, said he would look into the matter of ono special train a weok.
