All the members of tho Executive, are now in town, except tho Hon. J. A. Millar, who is en route for Wellington, and tlio Hon. A. T. Ngata, who is at Auckland. Mr. A. G. Stephenj left on a visit to Auckland, via tho East Coast, yesterday. Mrs. R. J. Seddon and her daughter, Mrs. Bean, of Addington, arc visiting llotorua, Mr. James Mackenzie, Commissioner for Crown Lands, visits tho Carriugtou estate, Carterton, to-day, Mr. D. D. Hyde, Government Poultry Export, has returned from visiting Dunedin, but will go back soon to give a series of lectures in Otago. An Auckland Press Association telegram states that the Hon. A. T. Ngata left last night for Kaikohe, where he will attend a meeting of two Maori councils to-night. Mr. G. Exley, of the Wellington Woollen Company, son of Mr. A. E. Exley, chairman of directors, leaves for Auckland en Monday to enter into a business 2'artnorship. Mr. and Mrs. S. J. Murphy (Satara, India), Mr. and Mrs. Macleod (Ballarat), and Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Sandford (Adelaide) leave to-day by tho Main Trunk lino for Kotorua. Recent callers , at the Tourist Office aro Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Kennedy (Halifax, Canada), Mr. A. Herbert Coatcs (Sydney), Mr. Albert It. Angliss (Melbourne-), Mr.'M. A. Taylor (London), Mr.' IS. 13. Woodd Smith (llampstead), and Dr. R. Maenair, Glasgow. The death on Saturday of the Rev. T. K. Thomas, M.A., of Leostcn, was announced at yesterday's mooting of tho Methodist Conference. Reference to tho good qualities of tho deceased minister was made by the Rev. 11. Bull, who for three years on his first coming to the Dominion was liis colleague. A motion was adopted by conference expressing sincere regret at Mr. Thomas's death, and sympathy for Mrs. Thomas, tho Rev. T. T. Thomas, 8.A., and the other members of deceased's family. Tho Rev. C. K. Aberncthy wns requested to attend tho funeral as a representative of the conference.
Mr. T. W. Kirk, Government Biologist, is expected back from the south on Thursday. The Hon. J. A. Millar leaves Timaru for Christchurch by tho first express to-day, and is duo in Wellington to-morrow morning. Mr. T. E. Donne, Superintendent of tho Department of Tourist and Health Resorts, returned from Kotorua yesterday in improved health. On tho motion of Mr. Myers, Mr. B. E. Murphy, M.A., of tho staff of Messrs. Bell, Gully, Bell and Myers, of this city, was yesterday admitted by Ins Honour Mr. Justice Dcnn'iston as a solicitor of tho Supremo Court. Tho Hons. G. Fowlds, J. Carroll, R. M'Kenzio, and T. Mackenzie arrived from the north by tho Main Trunk through express yesterday afternoon. The Hon. A. \S r . Hogg returned from Masterton in tho morning. Tho Rev. Dr. Capra, of Milan, Italy, who has been investigating agricultural matters in the Dominion, has returned from visiting Government experiment stations in this island. Ho will bo tho guest of his Grace Archbishop Redwood until Friday next, whon ho will leavo for Sydney. The new headmaster of tho Wanganui Collegiate School (the Hov. J. L. Dove) was, says an exchange, to leave London by the liuapehu, with his wife, on February 18. Thoy aro due in Wellington on April i. Mr. Dovo is a keen athlote and volunteer, and both the sports and cadet corps of tho college may bo expected to keep their premier position. Mr. Dove r.as engaged as a science master for tho college Mr. (J. H. Crombio, who left with his wife about the samo time as Mr. Dovo, travelling by way of Australia. Mr. Crombie also is a public school man, having been educated firsffl of all at Cheltenham. He took his science degree at Oxford, and has had considerable teaching experience at Manchester and Cambridge. Ho is a comparatively young man.
