An employee at Lamb and Company's store at Merton (108 miles north-east of Melbourne) reports that whilo ho was in charge of tho premises in the dinner hour, ho being alono at tho time, two men entored. Ono presented a revolver and ordered him to "bail-up I" He knocked tho intruder down. Tho thieves, after firing two harmless shots and binding and gagging tho employee, ransacked tho safe. They secured about £5, and then escaped. Tho police are investigating tbo matter.
