Tho "Daily Chronicle" states that, the now naval 12-inch gun, which has an effective range- of 18 miles, has been satisfactorily tested at Woolwioh. Exports declare that it is tho finest weapon in tho world. ■ SOME COMPARATIVE RANGES. According to a recent Amorican publication, the following tnble shows the range of guns on board warships at an elevation of 15 degrees, wliioh is, on board ship, tho highest projectile range:— ■ . .■ , Distance size of Gun. Tho now weapon would therefore seem to be a very marked advance in naval gunnery. Tho American army has, it is stated, a 16-inch gun that throws a projectile weighing 24001b. a distance of about 21 miles.
