Joseph Stoddart and Frederick Catling wore charged with conspiracy to obtain money by offering prizes in certain circulars called "Tho Football Record" and "Football and Sport." Tbo evidenco showed that Stoddart netted nearly £200,000. Ho was sentenced to eighteen mcnths' imprisonment. 'Catling was found not guilty on a charge of falso pretences, and in regard to tho conspiracy charge tho jury disagreed. Catling has been released on his own recognisanccs.
