Zealand championship meeting,at Dunedin. on MarchY2o.vV"'' : ' l' ■ ...'..The ■ Universities' /Tournament Committee' was) granted.: 'a permit and the 'use of'gear for their.' eighth', annual tournament on Easter Mondav. ,A -similar permit was granted to the Athletic P.O. Sports Club for an evening .meeting on Wednesday: night. . The Napier A, A.. Club wrote asking, to be affiliated-to the' centre.'".The,application was granted; .on condition., that it forwarded a list'; - of. its and-a copy, of its rules. •'■> ■" ,'-.;-Dr. Newman,'president: of,\ the 'centre, wrote, -Btatingj.that ho found under the'rules that, he .must-resign.either, his position of the 'Wellington Centre or presiaent;of i thevN.Z,A.A.A. It was the/wish of ■Wellington .athletics. that he should remain :?»; M» :N.Z.-A.A.A. ; ; With great -reluctance, therefore, he resigned the.presidentship of the: Wellington Contre. He hoped that ere Jong the present trouble would bo over, aid ; that some day the centre' would tako; him ■back. .7 Mr../ Larkin, ' one of;, the - vice-presidents,'-:'who. had also been appointed to the. new .body, also forwarded his resignation. "'The resignations were accepted with regret.",;- 1 '; ;, v.:/";■:'',■ ; . . ~-.■•■■{■.: /■ . .It .'was; reported that two local runners— Muloahy • and'.Wilton—had entered for the Marathon, race; at Auckland, on March 6. Their, expenses, it was stated, were being a number of patrons- of' athletics. Mr.; Robinson lield that the centre should ■be officially represented in the- race. . Asimilar opinion was expressed by the -chairman.' Mr. Davies pointed out that funds were not-avail-ablo'.for. the purpose. Mr. 'Heenan moved that Mulcahy : represent the centre, which would, however, not be liable, for his' expenses.; .There was.no seconder. Mr. 'Robinson then moved that a committee- '.he. set up to seleot : two runners to represent the whioh '-shoiild. vote £A 4s. towards the cost'., The chairman seconded the motion. Mr! Guise said he would oppose the -voting of any money itit such a purpose. The chairman offered to, donate ; two guineas ',' towards the expenses. Mr. Robinson withdrew his motion in favour of -one' moved by Mr. Davies, to the effect-that the centre send two men to take. part: in the race, and guarantee ■' thentrain fares if. not otherwise subscribed. The motion was carried.
