Allison) ;last evening; when a circular letter was. received by the City. Counoil from the office of the Minister for Internal Affairs, covering draft regulations proposed to . be,; made/.-under. Clauses 3 and 15 of the Motor Regulation Act. The letter stated that in regard:.to.tho distinctive, letters and numerals -to' bo: used for registration purposes, it was proposed to assign to each registering authority oneor two letters of- the', alphabet and not more than eay .600 numerals. The ,eiroular.; also: asked for the total number of oars, registered/ to date and the letters and numerals in ■. use in Christchurch. The Mayor said' that there were already 675, cars in; Christchurch, and the ; allowance of'soo numerals was quite inadequate. Fifteen hundred would be nearer:tho mark/ It was : decided.to;'informthe Minister that.more'numerals would be needful for Christohuroh.; '.. '
