: Chief Detective Broberg stated that accused had only been arrested the previous day, and ho would afck for a remand to February 2=l to cnablo further inquiries to bo made. Mr. Meredith, for accused,' asked for'bail, which was fixed in the v 'sum of £25-and one surety" of £25. •■■■■" CHARGE OF FORGERY. ■ A young man'named Alexander M'Miillaiv was remanded to Fobriiary ,24 on a charge that on. February . 9, at Wellington,: he did: forge the' name of Andrew M'Millan to -a money order telegram for*. £19 18s., and did utter the sarao to Robert Falconer.. In asking for the remand, Chief Detective Brbberg stated that it'would be necessary to bring a witness from Gisborne. -V AN UNIJSUAL CHARGE. . Chas. Baker, a middle-aged man, appeared, ill answer to a charge:that on or'about 'Fcb-' ruary ; 3,-at Wahganui, ho. did counsel one • Wm.
