RAILWAY TIME TABLES.
STATEMENT BY THE HON; J. A. MILLAR. (BY TELIGB/Lpft.—SPECIAL CORIIESt'ONUENT.) Palmerstori North, February 16. A deputation representing the business interests of tho town waited fin the Htm. J. A.Millar with regard to desired alterations in the .railway time-table so as to, connect at different points in the district with the. Main Trunk service, v The alterations, which affect the Hawke's Bay and Wairarapa services, were fully explained to the Minister, who promised to give thom his full corisidera--tion. " -'" , ■ -'- Mr. Millar said that tho whole matter : of tho timetables was under consideration: at present, but naturally with a now service itwould take some little 'timo' to. get all the trains to fit in. What was wanted was a through service from to Auckland, and in order to got this it was necessary, to recast the whole of the South Island tifao-tablcs. What the.v wanted to do was. to'run all .tho branch linos so as to fit in with .requirements of tho' public, ancT to connect'with, as large an area, as possible. It was their Intention to - do all they possibly could for the benefit of "the tr&volling, public", and .the whole matter would; be govji fully into. -.. - «/'' : Ono 'request, of _ the. deputation", 'that the usual mid-day train.to Foxton on.Saturdays bo delayed till ono b'clockso as to permit working people to get to the seaside for!the week-end, was granted. ■; , . XMr:' Millar'also promised to' consider "the desirability of accelerating tho speed of tho ordinary trains to and from Wellington to : Paltnorston North, , and ;betweon Wanganui and Palmerston North. .-:
