I am further directed to inform you that this design, together with tho de- , signs of two other competitors, will bo for- ' warded to the College of Arms, London, for \ ", examination, and that the competitors whose ' designs are deemed to be first and second in order of merit will receive a furthei payment of £10 and £5 respectively," Tho name? of tho other two competitors havo not trans- ' pired. , THE OTHER COMPETITORS. As thevresult of local inquiries made last night, it was learned that the two other competitors,referred to in tho above message are Mr. Langmuir (Auckland) and Mr, James M'Donald (of the Tourist Department). These two submitted designs of such equal' merit' that it was decided to award an interim pav-' mont of £10 to each. All three designs will, I as stated above, bo sent Homo for final adjudication. Mrs. E. C. Huio is the wife of Mr Huie, , editor of Christchurch "Truth.". Before hor , marriage, about two yeain ago, she was well known, as Miss Dagmar Ross, in S.vdney art circles, She lias also been an exhibitor at Chnstchnrch art exhibition. Mr. Jamci ' M'Donuld was the makor of the group of bronzed Maori statues which occupied a prominent position in tho xocent exhibition at Christehuroh. Mr. Langmuir is an Auckland - surveyor. '
