ROTORUA TROUT.
Sir,—l read a' 1 letter,-in this- morning's DoaffinoN, signed, by Mr. .Thompson, "score-: tary Rotorua Rod and Gun Club, in - reply:to.Mr. Wilfofd's strictures 1 on tlie trout in the Rotorua .Lake. I was;in Rotorua. and did a good deal of fishing at Christmas arid New Year. I fished at Rotorua Lake, and-was so, disgusted at the condition of the fishj which wero absolute razor-backed ones, that I went to LakeTaTaweraj and although I got no fish under'7lb:' andßlb.everyonei.l' got was in'wretched condition. I did not see a'"gbod-conditioned fish. out'"df'.R6tbfua -Lake while in the town;.', AtsKaster time'.l belifivo they "are in good, /condition, ■ -'and' ; I intend being on the; lake myself: in■■; April, ahd hope to get something else:but razorbacks. I might mention that when Tarrived'at Rotorna at Christmas .time'; I met a prominent business man* in the town; -and■ ho asked me why I had come up fishing then, because, ho said,."you won't got.any de'oent fish in the lake.v..ln factjV-I haven't put my; i own rod : together yet.'. If you want • good fish- come up at. Easter." .Personally, I! think, his remarks are very true.■'.• The; lako wants to: be systematically '..netted, so as to get rid of the fish,.the:lake being very much Overstocked.■". As far as the latter part of Mr. Thompson's letter is concerned, - I. amsurprised that the Trout Club should i.allow such remarks to be printed.—l am, etc.; ;■': "■"..'v- -ffAmARAPA. : .February 3..
